Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional 2021 Douro Tinto 75cl
Descripción
Designation of Origin: Douro
Vintage Year:
The year 2020 was extremely demanding, not only due to the global pandemic but also due to the quite harsh climatic conditions, presenting itself as a hot and dry year during the crucial grape ripening period. This was the warmest winter since 2005, although high rainfall was recorded, especially in December, both at Quinta da Cabreira (Douro Superior) and Quinta do Crasto (Cima Corgo). The months of March to June were also accompanied by high rainfall and high temperatures, which led to early bud break, about ten days earlier than usual. During this period there was greater pressure due to the possibility of diseases appearing in the vineyard, making constant and very rigorous monitoring by the viticulture team essential to avoid possible outbreaks of infection. July and August were hot months, but fortunately there was some water availability in the soil which ensured the correct ripening of the grapes. However, it was essential not to miss the optimal harvest point in order to avoid the threat of grape dehydration. The harvest began on August 17th and ended on September 25th. It was a lower-yielding vintage with vines producing smaller bunches and grapes of smaller diameter, with an excellent skin-to-pulp ratio, and consequently excellent concentration. A vintage marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, but thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the Quinta do Crasto team, it resulted in the production of white wines with excellent balance, freshness and aromatic definition, and very complete red wines, with very expressive fruit, seductive texture and excellent persistence.

Exam Grade:
Deep in color, almost opaque, with intense violet reflections, it reveals on the nose an extraordinary freshness and aromatic intensity where floral notes of violet and wildflowers stand out, balanced by aromas of wild fruits from the Douro. On the palate, it immediately seduces with its elegance, evolving into a wine of robust structure composed of silky, fresh and very well-integrated tannins.
