Argilla Wines Herdade da Anta de Cima
The Herdade da Anta de Cima estate, owned by the Tenreiro family, is located in the Serra de Montargil, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor. Argilla wines are born here, in an agro-forestry mosaic typical of the Alto Alentejo region, between cork oak forests and pine forests, where the vines occupy the most fertile soils – clayey, well-drained and facing south.
After a hiatus that began in the 1950s, viticulture returned to the farm when the family replanted the vineyards in 2010 and created the Argilla project. The past remains visible in the old winery and the clay amphorae, now the inspiration for the Talha de Argilla wines, which revive the ancestral Alentejo technique of winemaking in amphorae.
The range combines white (often with Alvarinho, Verdelho and Viosinho), red (with emphasis on Alicante Bouschet and Alfrocheiro aged in clay amphorae) and Rosa d’Argilla (Claret), always with a tense, mineral and gastronomic profile. These are terroir wines, with minimal intervention, that prioritize freshness and texture.
