Van Zellers & Co 20 Year Old Port 75cl
Description
🍇 Region : Douro
👨🔬 Winemaker : Cristiano van Zeller and Joana Pinhão
🌱 Grape Varieties : A blend of over 30 different red grape varieties, traditional to the Douro region, from old vines located in Cima Corgo, especially in the valleys of the Torto and Pinhão rivers.
🛠️ Winemaking : The grapes are foot-trodden before and during the fermentation process. When the must is ready to receive the grape brandy, the fortification is done all at once by adding it to the must in the lagares (traditional stone troughs). Further foot-troddenness is necessary to ensure good homogenization of the wine and to stop fermentation. The blend of must and brandy remains in the lagar for another one to two days, with light foot-trodden foot-trodden only twice a day (10 minutes each time). You then collect and store it in vats along with the pressed wine (we use traditional presses). The wines age in very old (over 100 years old) Port wood barrels for an average of 20 years.
