Pierre Gimonnet
Pierre Gimonnet & Fils is a family house of Champagne based in Cuis, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. The presence of the Gimonnet family in the village has been documented since the mid-17th century and, around 1750, its history was deeply linked to the vineyard and wine of Champagne. The house's current identity began to take shape with Pierre Gimonnet, who laid the foundations for the family's modern wine heritage. The next generation, with Michel Gimonnet, deepened a particularly rigorous approach to winemaking, including the separate work of plots to better understand and preserve the identity of the different terroirs. Today, the family's heritage brings together about 29.40 hectares of vineyards in the Côte des Blancs. Among its terroirs are Cramant, Chouilly and Oger, classified Grand Cru, in addition to Cuis and Vertus, Premier Cru classifieds. Chardonnay occupies a central place in the production and signature of the house, especially through its Blanc de Blancs champagnes. Didier and Olivier Gimonnet continued their family work from the 1980s onwards, developing new cuvées and reinforcing the international projection of the house. The next generation, represented by Pierre-Guillaume and Arnaud, joined the domain in the meantime, maintaining family continuity and increasing attention to environmentally responsible wine practices. The philosophy of Pierre Gimonnet & Fils starts from a simple idea: a great wine must transmit its terroir. The attention to the quality of the grapes, the age of the vines, the identity of each plot and the precision of the assemblages contributes to champagnes marked by the freshness, finesse, elegance and minerality characteristics of the Côte des Blancs.
