Insula Chão de Sal Clarete 2023 is a rare, artisanal wine, born from the ancient tradition of vinifying red and white varieties together, in a style that honors the "claret" wines of yesteryear. Originating from centuries-old vineyards in the southern part of Pico Island in the Azores, this light, saline red is produced from a blend of Merlot, Syrah, Saborinho, Arinto dos Açores, Verdelho , and other varieties from old vines over 80 years old.
With only 1,256 bottles produced , this wine is a true Azorean treasure , with a fresh, elegant, and gastronomic profile. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and artisanal winemaking techniques, Chão de Sal Clarete 2023 presents an authentic expression of Pico's volcanic terroir—mineral, saline, and full of character.
